Perfect weather, killer Beach Party decor and our biggest gate ever on the Peoria Riverfront. It was a historic night for Sammich. From the full-size palm trees that flanked the the stage, the undulating hula dancers and the occasional stray beach ball – there was no mistake that the beach theme was in full effect on July 9th at the CEFCU Center Stage at the Riverfront.

Hundreds of flowered leis, sunglasses and Sammich Budweiser shirts were flying all night and the tunes set the perfect tone – including a handful of brand-new jams – added specifically for Summer 2016. The dance floor stayed packed all night and after Sammich let the last chord of Prince’s “Purple Rain” ring out (as has been common practice since the Purple One’s passing) – the crowd remained for another 10 minutes chanting “One More Song!” A special tribute to Sammich’s longtime photographer, TBear was broadcast live on Facebook and on more than one occasion, the audience took over vocal duties.

The big hit of the night were the decorations that helped transform the CEFCU Center Stage – perched above crowded-to-capacity public boat docks – into a full-fledged beach for the night. Jeannie from http://www.FosterPetOutreach.org was on-hand early working her magic. Realistic palm trees, grass skirting and life-sized hula girls helped people forget that there was no sand. The illusion was completed when the audience showed up in beach-wear. It was a great night at Sammich Beach! Until next year!
